Congratulations to the Under 17’s for making it to the Grand Final in their division and finishing second and the Under 15’s who made it to the Semi Final and finishing third. Also, well done to the under 13’s who showed incredible improvement his year.
New Format for Season 2018/19 for Under 11’s
At its most recent meeting, the Geelong Junior Cricket Association Committee resolved to adopt the modified Junior Cricket 1 format (age indicative Under 11s) recommended by Cricket Australia for the coming season.
The modified rules were adopted by several associations around the country including the Bellarine Cricket Association under 11 competition last season.
The changes for our Junior 1 Cricket (formerly the Under 11 competition) are designed to increase participation, skill development and enjoyment for our current crop of junior cricketers.
The Community Cricket website will act as a one stop shop for all Junior Cricket information, and assist in understanding how and why the changes have been made.
Please refer to the link below for assistance;
Within the Community Cricket website there are further resources on the Junior Formats page such as;
· Coach Support
· Case Studies
· Frequently Asked Questions
There are some fantastic videos and infographics on the site, which will provide your club and coaches with some case studies from around the country.
I’ve also attached a ‘Junior Pathway’ graphic that will enable people to further familiarise themselves with some of the changes made.
Further information will be communicated at our next Junior Coordinators meeting in August (date TBA), and at a Junior Cricket 1 Forum in September (date TBA).
In the meantime refer any issues you have to either myself or;
1. Glen Potter (Junior Cricket 1/Under 11 Coordinator) at firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Dom McGlinchey (Regional Cricket Manager-Barwon) (Overseas 2 June to early July) at email@example.com
I understand this is an early advice but the changes are significant and needed to be advised to you as early as possible.
Please forward this advice onto relevant members of your club if there are omissions above as I have pinched the listing from an email I received recently.
Sub Committee Chair,
Geelong Junior Cricket Association.
